Iceland: Natural Wonders – Travel Kids in Europe


Sam let’s journal about our adventures today okay i’m gonna draw a blue lagoon i’m gonna draw a story it’s gonna blow up in a couple seconds today we had a steamy adventure in iceland oh oh iceland is an island up in the atlantic ocean some people call it the land of ice and fire do they call it that because there’s a lot of snow and steam exactly buddy there’s enormous glaciers whoa huge waterfalls and even volcanoes and where there’s volcanoes there’s steam lots and lots and lots of steam there’s so much steam that people use it to make electricity that’s our friend henrik he knows all about steam this is a steam power plant and here we generate electricity we drill down to 2000 meters and they get a huge length of us of of steam and hot water over 200 degrees on celsius the hot water goes through turbines to make electricity some of that hot water goes into lagoon that people can actually swim in and take a bath down yeah we can take a bath down there like is it really hot it’s uh nearly about 38 to 40 degrees in census oh can i try before we went for a bath we made a rock statue out of lava rocks oh my gosh molly i’m gonna be good now start the build oh this would be great for a science project this moss is bouncy good job buddy my shin time for a nice warm bath this is the way yep i wonder how warm it is come come on here wait let’s take our thermometer which we call the ducky ducky dude they’re their mom we should check and thermometer fishing time for the temperature check okay only 18 degrees henrik said the water is warmer where the people swim mom i want to get swimming well so do i they call it the blue lagoon because the water’s so blue it’s blue because it’s full of special sea water before we go in we have to test it with your little ducky dude thermometer we should do that no it’s their mom actually oh yeah it’s not thermal okay do you have it in about 36. let’s go in on that beach over there sam okay look that beach is black i think it’s like a ground lava rocks oh this is a some kind of nut really good for the skin you want to try i’m going to keep mine on for long time because i need my beauty i’m going to have nice don’t open them daddy makeover oh that is cold will it make me look younger um no kendra can you count to three in uh icelandic so we can all dunk under the water and get it all off our face yeah let’s do it eight two or three they even had water beds you could lie on oh they slimy yeah oh there’s one are there any other cool water things in iceland yeah it is actually a lot of them but we have one but it’s quite exciting to see what’s it called it’s called hot springs it’s called geezers that’s geothermical water that blows up yeah it’s explode like you know it goes like like this yeah no like this henrik took us to see the exploding geysers blast blue lagoon bless means goodbye in icelandic look at this one yeah this one the name casey in english it means to gush so does this one really ever explode no this uh this is so a little bit quiet are there any here that still explode today yeah we have another one here just beside it this one what’s it called called does it blow up really big yeah it goes up to 40 meters whoa how is it gonna blow look at it it’s boiling this was just a tiny little one whoa well that was the big one right is it gonna blow i’m gonna tell you i’m thinking just get ready no i got we had an exploding good time in iceland hi henry hi before we go do you want to see a volcano headed yeah come on molly let’s go go whoops that wasn’t very good.
