[Music] khadija welcome to manny my first question i have to start here your nickname’s bunny where did it come from i actually have a couple of theories um can i guess yeah bunny bugs bunny either he was really fast at running or you love carrots the second one the carrot oh i actually genuinely didn’t know that you know so is the places like this to play in jamaica like cage looks like no streets like your cars are parking how was it playing football over there as a female it was pretty difficult because there’s not a lot of opportunities for girls there yeah so i was playing amongst the boys yeah was it was tough because they didn’t they didn’t make it easy for me um but i just wanted to be in the moment we play counting so if i say two you have to take two oh and then you give me back and say a number so you want to play yeah i’ll steal it okay two one before okay okay okay when i was younger my parents didn’t allow me to play oh really yeah because of the lack of opportunities so it was almost like a waste of time and one day i was like let’s just strike a deal you know i passed my exams and you allow me to play and i did and so i got called for the jamaica u15 team and i was like mom you know who knows maybe i could be the one to change you know female football in jamaica two one two one i said i left jamaica went to the united states and then you go over to france sign for bordeaux 31 goals in 33 games yeah unreal and then you get some interest from english clubs obviously man city come in was there any other clubs that you had your eye on in england or was it always going to be city it wasn’t definitely manchester but ryan stirling played a part you’re coming to a you know a beautiful family but yeah man forward and you know i’m coming to the damage over here so and everything but now all the best and hopefully see you soon well you know one thing i love about jamaica like the food i actually get my hair cut just over here and there’s a shop called cool runnings that do the best jamaican food in manchester you’re backing let’s give it a try yeah [Music] you want jerkstars you do you do yeah [Music] i told you with the sauce the sauce what okay so i got you a bigger fruit punch soda i’ve never had this before yes so it’s a jamaican soda drink tell me how is it yeah it’s good it’s good okay amazing i’m hungry now these wings are hot so bunny i know that you’ve um inspired millions of people with your story but i want to know what inspires you like what inspired you to get where you are today i think all the setbacks that i’ve had to deal with growing up at the end of the day it’s it’s how you get up and keep going after having those setbacks is gonna define you as a person what were some of the adversities that you faced the opportunities as being a female in jamaica exactly it inspires me to keep going because i see that i’m inspiring other young aspiring female footballers yeah so if you had younger footballers in jamaica say i love what you’ve done so when we qualified for the world cup i didn’t understand the impact that it had on the country until we went on this truck and we were going through like little cities and community people were coming out clapping and i remember this one this girl came came up to me yeah and she was just like i want to be like you oh and i was just i just looked at her and i was like why do you want to be like me and she’s like because you’re big and you’re strong and you made it to the world cup and i it’s a big thing and it’s something that always just looking at her how happy she was you know and i was just like because of you i will not give give up what motivates me to keep going is where i’m coming from to have the opportunity to to be playing at one of the the biggest clubs you know in the world yeah so when i look back and say okay i’ve passed difficult stages of my life playing football so it’s just about enjoying the moment now so that’s what keeps me going it’s been lovely to meet you today just to hear your story like inspires me to keep going and what i want to achieve and i think i can probably speak on behalf of everyone watching this as well to be fair so i just want to say thank you and wish you the best for the rest of the season yeah thank you and we can enjoy our soul food like yup oh shh you know what they say when a bees is nearby you’re gonna get money it’s luck that’s a wasp so we’re only gonna get skunked no you’re okay man hi it’s your main genius here from match of the day x thanks for checking out our videos on the bbc sport youtube channel remember to hit that like button and subscribe and hit that bell button so you don’t miss out on any new content that we’re going to be posting and we’ve got a video for you right here to check out right now we’ll see you soon
